Albert Einstein Academy a K-6 School
Moses Maimonides, a proclaimed Jewish Philosopher, originated the phrase, "A healthy mind, a healthy body." The Albert Einstein Academy is a Jewish Day School dedicated to the development of the whole child. The school instills a love for learning, places a high value on academic achievement, and develops individuals who will contribute to their communities. Respect for the individual is anchored in the belief that G-d is in every person. Individualized goals challenge students by offering the opportunity for a superior secular and Judaic educational program.
At Albert Einstein Academy we strive to develop the intellect of each child to the fullest. Teaching is focused on active learning and creativity. In both secular and Judaic studies, children learn literature, social studies and creative writing through a wide variety of reading and writing assignments. The mathematics and science curricula emphasize problem solving and experimentation. Computer use is integrated into the general instruction. Creative and performing arts are an integral part of the curriculum and allow an alternative method for personal expression and individuality. The curriculum at Albert Einstein Academy includes movement, sports and lifestyle management.
The Jewish Studies curriculum involves intensive exposure to Jewish culture, customs, ceremonies, history, and Bible. Hebrew is taught both as a living language and as the historic language of prayer, Torah, Rabbinic text, and commentaries. Children participate in daily prayer, and are provided opportunities to perform other Mitzvot. These opportunities provide the foundation for children to develop their ethics and values. Jewish ideals and practices are combined with the values of American citizenship and multi-cultural education to teach children how the secular and religious realms enrich each other and enhance our lives. Social awareness is heightened through field trips that enrich students' social, cultural and civic experiences.
Albert Einstein Academy's environment reflects a sense of community. An atmosphere of mutual respect and trust fosters close and comfortable communication between families and the school about expectations, progress, concerns, and individualized goals. By working as a team, teachers optimize the performance of their students, their colleagues, and their institution. The teachers provide students with a balance of personal support, authority, and modeling.
The individual approach to education, emphasis on creativity, and nurturing environment support the development of each child's identity. While individuality is nurtured, students are expected to be well-mannered, behave in a socially acceptable manner, and fulfill their responsibilities. This promotes students' self-esteem and confidence when approaching tasks in school and in the community.
